Duck, North Carolina is one of the most popular destinations on the Outer Banks. It’s been named by the Travel Channel and America On-Line as one of the best family beach destinations in the U.S.

Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean and the Currituck Sound, Duck stretches north from Southern Shores to the Dare County/Currituck County line.

In addition to its gorgeous beaches, Duck offers visitors numerous outdoor recreational activities, concerts, watersports, fine and casual dining, art galleries, and some of the best shopping on the Outer Banks.

“Downtown Duck” with its wide variety of shops, boutiques, small eateries, large restaurants, and events attracts visitors from all over the Outer Banks. The village area is easily reachable from most Duck subdivisions by foot or bicycle via the Duck Trail that runs along the east side of Duck Road from the town line north to the Currituck County line. Various musical, theatre, and children’s events are now offered during the summer in the new town municipal park. The park is designed to be a premier community recreational facility enabling visitors and residents alike to partake in the natural beauty of this 11-acre soundside maritime forest and willow swamp. Park amenities include a boardwalk, gazebo, public kayak/canoe launch, playground, and many walking trails.

Duck is very pet friendly. Dogs must be kept on a leash when walking throughout the town, but can play unleashed on the town’s beaches as long as they are under the watchful eye of their owner.
